Bowling Is Like A Start-up.

bowlingBowling is like a start-up. Your team’s lane versus the other ten lanes going for the gold, the highest score. In every lane there is a leader. The leader either showboats and brings down the morale of his team, or the leader rallies the team and teaches them the secret of bowling. I was bowling with my cousin at Lucky Strike in Hollywood this weekend, and as we were playing…this theory struck me. I have found this theory to be true. I am very competitive, and losing is not something I like. In fact, I hate it. Unfortunately, there are times in life when I do lose, and it is at these times that I examine the situation and figure out what was the cause of my loss and how to better guard myself against it the next time. Like a start-up, you have distractions when trying to reach the top. The waitress comes around offering you numbing drinks (entrep events). The music and lights are blazing (PR, media, press kits). You can either give in to the hype and the spotlight of success, or you can push it aside and continue going for the gold. The fittest survivethe ones who mentally block out the outside noises to focus on winning the game. In theory, the game is easyjust a round ball that you hurl down a lane with the intention of overtaking pins that stand 60 feet away. When the noise hits, who will survive? I will be teaching my lane how to bowl properly. You better be doing the same.
